A clutch is the driving force of a vehicle.

It’s common to assume that they are only found in manual vehicles but automatic vehicles have them too.  The clutch engages the engine shaft which then turns the wheels.  As one of the parts of your car which is in pretty much continuous use, it can last for up to 60,000 miles, however it’s one of the those parts that can wear out quickly and can be expensive to replace.

You can keep your clutch in good condition by:
-    Only using it when you need to rather than keeping it pressed down.
-    Don’t use it as a foot rest
-    Keep your foot off it whenever you press on the accelerator rather than “riding” it

Signs that your vehicle’s clutch needs replacing:
-    You can smell burning
-    It’s difficult to change gears
-    Your clutch feels like it’s going into warm butter rather than needing a bit of pressure to move
-    It slips when you try to engage it
-    Your engine revs but doesn’t speed up

Contact Auto Tyres Croydon if you are experiencing any of the above issues and we will check to make sure this is the problem and if so, replace it.
